Set of dragon design single teapot and cup. The very special teapot is made using a double-wall pierced technique. The outer pierced wall depicts a dragon (emperor) wrapping around the teapot. The inner wall is solid to contain the tea liquid. The cup is also made in the pierced double-wall technique. Its three panels depict a phoenix (empress), chrysanthemum, and a garden scene. The set is made using Duanni clay from Yixing in Jiangsu Province, China. This special clay has been used since the Song Dynasty (960-1279) - it is considered the best clay for teapots. The teapot is unglazed so that the tea will infuse into the body of the teapot and, with use, enhance the flavor of the tea. Teapot is 6.5"(16.5cm) x 4.25"(11cm) x 3.25"(8.5cm). Cup is 2.5" (6.5cm) x 2.5" (6.5cm) x 1.5(4cm). Maker's and artist's marks on the bottom. No cracks or chips. Readmore .. .
